Interested in taking ceramics classes? I'll be teaching them out of my studio in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Pssst... Looking for Milk bottles? I'm sold out. Way out.

I'll be offering two kinds of workshops. the most basic, for those wanting to learn how to work in clay, will be a general handbuilding class.

What i'm most excited about, however, is a textural tile-making workshop i'll be teaching. Since I have a fascination with textures in clay--as shown by my knitted patterns and milk bottle logos--students will take everyday objects--shells, leaves, fabric, rubber stamps, beads--and use them to create interesting impressions tin the clay, they will then cut into tiles.

My favorite part of this workshop, however, is that i'll be providing a special trove of textural items to work with: over the years my dump-digging has yielded me buckets of gorgeous pottery shards. (These pictures should explain just how gorgeous they are!) These pieces range from chunks of depression mixing bowls, art-deco vases, arts and crafts bowls, and even a parts of a pineapple themed McCoy planter.

Workshops are six 2-3 hour sessions. for groups, cost is $400 per person (which includes materials, firing fees, and most glazes. we will be using white earthenware and sheer, water-color type glazes). 4 students max per group, but i'll gladly teach several a week; private one-on-one workshops are $500. If the workshops are successful, i'll be offering a follow-up teaching how to make press-molded tiles. for more information, shoot me an email.

Thanks, as always, for your support!
